Solotrust.com - The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) as the Asian football federation has conducted a drawing for the 2026 World Cup Qualification Round 3 for the Asian zone on Thursday (27/06/2024). Drawing results , the Indonesian National Team (Timnas) again met Asian giants Japan in Group C.
As is known, at the Qatar Asian Cup in January 2024, Indonesia also met Japan in the same group and suffered a crushing defeat 3-1. Not only Japan, Australia is also Indonesia's tough opponent.
This year, not only the senior Australian national team has met Indonesia, but also the young ones at the 2024 Qatar U-23 Asian Cup.
In Group C, Indonesia not only met Japan and Australia. The national team is also lined up to face other big teams, such as Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and China.
This is certainly not easy for coach Shin Tae Yong, but with the existing experience it can certainly provide learning and evaluation for Garuda players to be able to qualify for the group stage and advance to the next round.
The 2026 World Cup Qualification Round 3 for the Asia Zone will be held from 5 and 10 September 2024. After that it will be held again on 10 and 15 October 2024. Qualification will be held again on 14 and 19 November. The last four matches will continue in 2025.
In the matches above, Indonesia must be able to become group champion or runner-up in order to advance directly to the 2026 World Cup which will be held by three countries in the Americas, namely the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
If the worst case scenario is that Indonesia does not achieve this target, there is still another opportunity to win the third and fourth groups to advance to the next round.
