Solotrust.com - Pada Rabu (23/1/2019) malam, Gaon Chart Music Awards kembali digelar. Di tahun ke-8nya ini, berlokasi di Jamsil Arena, Seoul, sejumlah penghargaan diberikan kepada artis dan para profesional di industri musik Korea Selatan.
Dalam kategori Artist of the Year, Gaon memberikan penghargaan atas capaian album offline (fisik) tiap 3 bulan dan untuk online (digital) tiap bulan.
Untuk kategori album fisik, BTS berhasil mendominasi di tiga bulan ke-2 dan ke-3 selama 2018 dengan album "Love Yourself: Tear" dan "Love Yourself: Answer", dengan total lebih dari 3,7 juta kopi.
"Love Yourself: Tear" tercatat terjual sebanyak.1.748.213 kopi dan "Love Yourself: Answer" terjual sebanyak 2.001.191 kopi. Sementara itu, untuk 3 bulan pertama dipegang WANNA ONE dan 3 bulan terakhir dipegang EXO.
Sedangkan untuk kategori Artist of the Year dalam kategori musik digital bulanan, pemenangnya adalah:

2. Februari: Roy Kim - “Only Then”
3. Maret : BIGBANG - “Flower Road”
4. April: TWICE - “What Is Love?”
5. Mei: Bolbbalgan4 - “Travel”
